Figs wrapped with crispy bacon

Method


  1. Preheat the oven to 200C/400F/Gas 6.

  2. Make a criss-cross in the top of each fig, pinch the base to expand the opening at the top, and stuff each with a Camembert piece. Season, to taste, with salt and freshly ground black pepper.

  3. Heat the butter in a small ovenproof frying pan and fry the figs for one minute. Place the pan into the oven and roast for six minutes, or until the cheeseis melted and golden.

  4. In a separate pan, fry the bacon on both sides for 4-5 minutes, or until crisp. Remove the figs from the oven and wrap each one with a rasher of bacon.

  5. To serve, place the bacon-wrapped figs onto a plate.

  • 50g/3½oz Camembert, cut into 3 pieces
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp butter
  • 3 rashers streaky bacon
