Croissants with butterscotch apples

Method


  1. For the croissants, melt the butter in a frying pan, then place the croissants into the pan to fry for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden-brown.

  2. For the butterscotch apples, place the butter and sugar into a small frying pan to melt over a medium heat.

  3. Add the chopped apple and the orange juice to the pan and cook for 5-6 minutes, then add the sultanas and cook for another minute. Finally add the cream to the pan, cover with a lid and simmer for 5-6 minutes.

  4. To serve, place the croissants onto a plate along with the butterscotch apples and a scoop of vanilla ice cream, if desired.

  • 25g/1oz butter, melted
  • 2 plain ready-made croissants, split open lengthways

For the butterscotch apples

  • 25g/1oz butter
  • 1 tbsp soft brown sugar
  • 1 apple, cored, chopped
  • ½ orange, juice only
  • 1 tbsp sultanas
  • 75ml/2½fl oz double cream
  • ready-made vanilla ice cream, to serve, if desired
