Breaded plaice with herbed rice salad

  1. Coat the plaice fillets in flour, then in the beaten egg and finally in the breadcrumbs.

  2. Heat the oil in a non-stick frying pan and fry the fillets for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown.

  3. For the salad, mix the rice, pepper, orange juice and fresh herbs into a large bowl.

  4. Spoon the rice onto a serving plate and serve the breaded fillets alongside.


  • 2 plaice fillets
  • 30g/1oz plain flour
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 30g/1oz white breadcrumbs
  • 1-2 tbsp olive oil

For the rice salad

  • 110g/4oz basmati rice, cooked
  • ½ red pepper, diced
  • 1 orange, juice only
  • 3 tbsp parsley, chopped
  • 3 tbsp coriander, chopped
